The NE region of India was hit by a 6.8 Richter scale level earthquake on 18/9/11. Its epicentre was less than 100 miles from Kalimpong in West Bengal. The impact of the earthquake in Kalimpong was most felt at Dr. Graham's Homes school situated on a ridge above the town. Although there were no injuries to the children, staff and estate workers, serious damage was done to the school buildings and cottages.
